“DP Seat Is Not Negotiable” – Governor Njuki Fires Warning Over ODM Demands in 2027 Power Battle

A fresh political storm is brewing after Muthomi Njuki declared that the Deputy President’s seat is “not negotiable” within the broad-based coalition, amid reports that Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) is demanding the powerful position ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Speaking in Chuka during the burial of County Secretary Alex Muratha’s mother, Priscillah Muratha, Njuki did not mince his words.

He expressed deep concern over ODM’s alleged push for the Deputy President’s slot, saying such demands risk destabilizing the coalition arrangement.

“We are very concerned by ODM’s demand for the Deputy President’s position. As long as we remain in the broad-based coalition, the DP seat is not negotiable,” Njuki stated firmly.

In a striking twist, the governor added that they are willing to “offer” Kithure Kindiki to ODM as a compromise — but only under one condition: Kindiki must remain the running mate to William Ruto in 2027.

“We are ready to offer DP Kithure Kindiki to ODM as a compromise, but he must remain President William Ruto’s deputy in 2027,” Njuki emphasized.

The remarks have intensified political speculation over the shape of alliances heading into the next election cycle.

Analysts say the Deputy President’s seat is a critical bargaining chip in coalition politics, often determining regional balance and voting blocs.

Njuki’s statement signals growing unease within the coalition over internal power-sharing dynamics.

It also underscores the strategic importance of Kindiki’s role in the current administration and the 2027 succession calculus.

ODM has yet to officially respond to Njuki’s comments, but the declaration is likely to trigger heated debate within political circles.

As 2027 edges closer, the battle lines appear to be quietly forming.

One thing is now clear: the race for influence within the coalition has begun — and the Deputy President’s seat sits at the very center of the storm.
