Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua on Tuesday held a consultative meeting with Elijah Njagi Ireri, a parliamentary aspirant for Runyenjes Constituency in Embu County.
Ireri is seeking to contest the Runyenjes National Assembly seat on a DCP ticket in the next General Election.
The meeting focused on party strategy, grassroots mobilisation and the political landscape in Embu County, which remains a key battleground in the Mt Kenya region.
Sources within the party indicated that the discussions centred on strengthening DCP structures at the constituency level, recruiting new members and setting up ward-based campaign teams.
Gachagua is said to have emphasised the need for early preparation, disciplined messaging and direct engagement with voters.
Runyenjes Constituency, located in Embu County, has in recent elections experienced stiff competition among major political parties.
Ireri is positioning himself as a fresh alternative, pledging to focus on economic empowerment, youth employment and improved service delivery if elected.
The DCP leader reiterated his commitment to building a strong political outfit capable of fielding candidates across the country.
He encouraged aspirants to prioritise unity and avoid divisive local politics that could weaken the party’s influence in the region.
Ireri welcomed the endorsement and expressed confidence that the party’s growing support base in Embu would translate into electoral gains.
He affirmed his readiness to work with local leaders and community groups to popularise the DCP agenda.
The meeting signals DCP’s continued efforts to consolidate support in Mt Kenya as it prepares for the upcoming polls, with Runyenjes emerging as one of the constituencies to watch.
