Latest Online Opinion Poll Shows Opposition’s Most Preferred Presidential Candidate Ahead of 2027

Tension briefly escalated in Kisumu during a high-profile Linda Mwananchi procession led by Edwin Sifuna, Babu Owino, and James Orengo after a suspected disruptive individual was confronted by members of the public.

The incident occurred as large crowds filled the streets in a show of support, chanting slogans and waving placards. 

The atmosphere, initially energetic and celebratory, shifted when a commotion broke out within the procession. 

Witnesses reported that a man, believed to be acting suspiciously, was pursued by a group of youths who accused him of attempting to steal and cause disorder.

According to accounts from those present, the suspect had been moving within the crowd before allegedly trying to provoke confusion. Alert participants quickly intervened, cornering him before the situation could escalate further.

Security personnel attached to the leaders, along with police officers monitoring the procession, moved swiftly to restore order. 

The suspect was shielded from an increasingly agitated crowd and escorted away for questioning, preventing possible violence.

Following the disruption, Owino appealed to supporters to remain calm and focused, stressing the importance of discipline during such gatherings. 

Sifuna also cautioned against infiltration by individuals intent on undermining the procession’s objectives.

The event resumed shortly afterward, with chants and speeches continuing across the city. Organisers later commended attendees for their vigilance, noting that their quick response helped maintain order.

The incident highlights the security challenges associated with large political gatherings, where heightened emotions and large crowds can create opportunities for disruption if not carefully managed.
